After our boss Rob has come back from his holiday from Slovakia, he started to show pictures of the City. But as we are very interested to see pictures of the Bratislava, the only pictures Rob took were the pictures of different types of drinking fountain. They seem to be spread everywhere in the Old City, with cold, fresh water. They are used a lot and as the temperature has risen to 36 degrees everyone was keen to refresh himself in these.
There were different types of fountains too, some were really old good looking and ornamental, which attracted tourists, that took pictures of them and filled their water bottles. But not all of them were like this. Most of them were there just for single purpose only- to provide refreshing water for parched passerby. These are normally new-looking, with modern design. They don’t draw tourists for their beauty, but for their refreshing bounty.

Back in the day, outdoor drinking fountains were everywhere, they were vital for the wellbeing of the public and were often the only way to quench the thirst of the villages. They were often a very simple design, nothing too crazy, just a concrete slab with a hole for the water to come out of.

Some parts of the world took pride in their drinking fountains and used them as a way to show off the design skills of their architects and artists in the region. France had some of the most glorious water fountains in the world. These days it seems as though public drinking water fountains are few and far between.

London’s Hyde Park has recently recieved a very fancy addition to its green landscape, a brand new water fountain shaped like a sphere designed so children and adults can easily reach the access points to the water.

The fountain is the first one in the park for 30 years and was installed by instruction of Boris Johnson, but it appears the mayor has no more plans to install any more fountains in surrounding parks.

Sticking up for Boris, a spokeswoman for the Mayor argued, “The Mayor is very keen on public water fountains and is exploring practical ways to promote them in a climate where many organisations are facing funding pressures.”

Drinking Water Fountains is the UK’s specialist provider of water fountains.
Concrete water fountains are getting increasingly popular for both indoor and outdoor locations. They provide a filtered, clean and cold drink of water for everyone. Drinking water fountains are generally used at pools, schools, campuses, parks, patios, campsites, sports arenas, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, indoor and outdoor malls, offices, theaters and public gardens.

When looking for a drinking fountain to place in an outdoor public area you should certainly be looking at a concrete outdoor drinking fountain. Quality concrete outdoor drinking fountains offer maximum strength and durability with minimum maintenance. They are vandal resistant and they have attractive earth-tone colors that will blend well with other site amenities such as picnic tables and swing sets. They have the ability to blend beautifully in outdoor environments.

In addition, they are completely lead-free and the internal parts, such as the brass bubblers, are corrosion free. The flow regulators are easy to adjust so that the water stream stays in the bowl. Concrete water fountains are also easily accessible for the handicapped and for children which is why they are great for use in public parks. There is plenty of knee clearance for people in wheelchairs and an easy front push button on the front of the fountain.

If you are looking into purchasing or renting a concrete outdoor water fountain, please contact DrinkingWaterFountains.co.uk on 0845 500 4455 or email contact@drinkingwaterfountains.co.uk

Outdoor water fountains are a vital part of any outdoor space, whether it’s a park, public swimming pool or your very own backyard. DrinkingWaterFountains.co.uk understands the importance of having high quality water fountains available for people in any environment to access, and is pleased to announce the three outdoor drinking fountains that are stocked by the company.

The first cab off the rank is the Steel Slimline outdoor drinking fountain. This sturdy little number is perfect for parks and campgrounds, made from stainless steel it requires connection to a mains water supply and a waste connection is required as well. The strainer is fitted to the inlet to stop debris blocking up the bubbler cartridge.

Next up is the Classic Steelgrade stainless steel fountain which is a pedestal mounted drinking fountain, secured to the floor with a mounting ring. It has a projector and remote push button as standard and will also require connection to a mains water supply and waste connection. It too has the strainer fitted to the inlet to stop debris blocking up the bubbler cartridge. This type of fountain is perfect for areas where children need to access the fountain as the button is located lower and therefore they will be able to access the water more easily.

Then we have the Concrete Outdoor fountain, perfect for those outdoor conditions that require a robust water fountain such as public areas. Manufactured in Fibrotrace® a GRP type material that is both corrosion and weather resistantthis fountain is sure to withstand all the elements that the weather (and young children) can throw at it. It also comes with projector and remote push button as standard and requires connection to a mains water supply and waste connection. Once again the strainer fitted to the inlet to stop debris blocking up the bubbler cartridge.

For pricing or more information on the above outdoor water fountains or any other type of water fountain, please contact DrinkingWaterFountains.co.uk on 0845 500 4455 or email contact@drinkingwaterfountains.co.uk

The Children’s Food Campaign (CFC) are urging local authorities to provide adequate drinking water in all UK parks to ensure children have access to free drinking water. They argue that due to the lack of outdoor drinking fountains in parks, “children often have to go thirsty or visit ice cream vans, shops or take-aways where there may be few healthy options available and lots of tempting but unhealthy drinks and snacks on offer”.

But a spokeswoman for the Local Government Association, which represents more than 350 councils in England and Wales, rejected the CFC’s concerns saying water fountains are provided in many places and decisions have to be made about how they will be maintained, whether they offer value for money and whether they will be safe from vandalism.

However the CFC is adamant that placing more drinking water fountains in public areas and parks will see a decrease in childhood obesity and even tooth decay as children will have access to water and won’t have to resort to buying fizz drinks.

DrinkingWaterFountains.co.uk has been saying this for years, so we are of course advocating the views of the CFC and would highly encourage all local authorities to look into installing more outdoor drinking water fountains into parks and public areas to provide free drinking water for everyone.

Water coolers are installed in housed all across the United Kingdom every day and now we are seeing an increase in the amount of outdoor drinking fountains being installed in parks, outdoor sports courts and even in celebrity homes and gardens.

Apparently celebs can’t get enough water when they’re sunning themselves by the pool, some have said they have outdoor drinking fountains in their garden areas so the groundsmen can keep themselves hydrated easily enough throughout the day. What a kind bunch they are!

It makes perfect sense to have an outdoor drinking water fountain in the pool area, everyone should jump on that band wagon. Imagine how dehydrated you get while you’re outside in the sun for all that time. Just because you’re swimming in water doesn’t mean you’re going to be adequately hydrated. If you install an outdoor drinking water fountain for your pool area you can certain you will always be hydrated and it will also reduce the risk of getting heatstoke.

If you have a lot of groundsmen working on your estate or garden area, it’s also well worth the money to invest in an outdoor drinking water fountain for that area as well as it will increase productivity as well as hydration levels in your staff. So take a leaf out of the celebs book and install one today!

With obesity and heart disease on the rise, it’s important we start taking care of ourselves and the city we live in to ensure the future of the next generation. We can all do simple things to improve our lifestyles and make them more lustrious and healthy, things such as walking or riding a bike to the shops instead of driving, taking the kids down to the park instead of putting on a DVD for them to watch and reducing the amount of fat we eat by simply altering home recipes.

It’s also up to our city councils to ensure there are enough parks and bikeways in our towns, all parks need to have outdoor drinking fountains for people and animals to use as well as play areas for children and fenced off areas for dogs so they can be let off their leashes and free to roam around. With adequate parks and outdoor areas, people will be more inclined to use them which will in turn benefit their health and the health of a city.

By having outdoor drinking fountains in parks and other outdoor spaces, it encourages people to be more health consience as may in fact aid in weight loss. This is due to the fact that people may choose to drink the water out of the fountain over going to a vending machine for a softdrink hence helping them in the fight against obesity.

Drinking water fountains are no longer only required inside in homes and offices, they are extremely vital to any park, outdoor play/pool area and especially alongside outdoor sports fields and basketball and tennis courts to rehydrate players. If you are looking into purchasing or renting one or some outdoor drinking fountains for an outdoor area there are a few things you need to ask to ensure you get the correct fountain for it’s environment.

The first thing to ask is whether you need the fountain for adults or children, in most cases people will be looking for a fountain that accommodates both. In other cases, it’s often better to get a taller one for the adults and a shorter one for the children.

Then there’s the question of concrete or steel? Concrete fountains look good in surroundings that are of a similar material whereas the steel ones are more modern and suit the more modern environment. Either way you can be sure the fountain will look wonderful in whatever material you choose as they are all manufactured to the highest standard and have passed all safety inspections with flying colours. Also, do you want the fountain mounted to a nearby wall or free standing?

Have a think about other questions you’ll need to ask such as contract details, renting options and guarantees and feel free to ask your sales represenative, they will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the fountains.

Back in the day it was quite common for people in the village to all gather around the village drinking fountain for their daily chat as well as for a swift drink on their way through town. Now with so many germaphobes running around, people are less inclined to drink from outdoor drinking fountains even though they are all certainly clean enough to drink from. European cities have the oldest most beautiful outdoor fountains, most of which you can still from. There’s a gorgeous one in Dubrovnik, Croatia, which attracts hundreds of tourists each day, all lining up to fill their water bottles to the brim.

It’s more of a novelty than anything else, but if we had more of the modern outdoor drinking fountains in public areas such as parks and playareas, people would benefit as it would be a way of getting your daily water intake up. As everyone knows, it’s extremely important to drink water every day, up to eight glasses is the recommendation. So with more outdoor drinking water fountains it would make it that little bit easier for everyone to achieve the eight glass recommendation each day.

There are many different types of outdoor drinking fountains, the more traditional ones found all over Europe, then there’s the more modern ones which are smaller and easier to keep clean, perfect for parks and outdoor sports fields and basketball courts. If you are looking into getting an outdoor drinking fountain you can view the range from Drinking Water Fountains here or if you simply would like to know more please contact us on contact@drinkingwaterfountains.co.uk or call 0845 500 4455.

TOP THREE MOST BEAUTIFUL WATER FOUNTAINS IN THE WORLD

Water fountains were originally created for functionality, to supply water for drinking or to bathe in. In Ancient Rome they started to create water fountains for aesthetic and decorative purposes in courtyards and gardens. Now there are many types of water fountains in the world, drinking water fountains, garden water fountains and even musical water fountains. Since we know a thing or two about water fountains, even if it’s mainly drinking water fountains, we thought we would share our appreciation for what we believe are the three most beautiful water fountains in the world today.

Number Three
Fountains of Bellagio, Las Vegas, United States

This magical water fountain puts on an astounding visual spectacular for the tourists of Las Vegas with its water jets, coloured lights and timed music. It’s a must see on the Vegas list and nearly everyone who has been to Vegas has seen the Bellagio Fountains Show and been very impressed with it.

Number Two
Fontaine des Innocents, Paris, France

The Fontaine de Innocents water fountain is the oldest monumental public fountain in Paris. It was constructed to welcome King Henry II into Paris in 1549 although work on the fountain started in 1547 and took almost three years to complete. Paris had a very poor water supply system so the fountain only produced a small amount of water, but it’s gorgeous design and architecture made up for any shortcomings.

Number One
Trevi Fountain, Rome, Italy

The Trevi Fountain in Rome is the number one most beautiful water fountain the world and attracts thousands of tourists to Rome each year. It’s particularly spectacular at night, once the fountain becomes illuminated by spotlights in the water and on the sculptures on the fountain. It’s popular to throw coins in the fountain to make a wish or for good luck and it’s estimated that nearly 3000 Euros are thrown in the fountain every day. The money is collected and used to subsidise projects for the less fortunate citizens of Rome.
