The fountain is the first one in the park for 30 years and was installed by instruction of Boris Johnson, but it appears the mayor has no more plans to install any more fountains in surrounding parks.
Sticking up for Boris, a spokeswoman for the Mayor argued, “The Mayor is very keen on public water fountains and is exploring practical ways to promote them in a climate where many organisations are facing funding pressures.”
